Settle down, 2011. We were only just catching our breath over the news that a new Lady Gaga single would be in our lives in February (along with the new album, Born This Way, in May) and now...this? A new Britney single? Next week? Do you believe in miracles!? Yes!
Whew. OK, here's what we know. While EW's Music Mix blog announced that the new Britney Spears song "Hold It Against Me," is due to hit the airwaves (and, by extension, the Internet) on Jan. 7, Britney's manager, Adam Leber, tweeted that we shouldn't believe everything we've readabout the new single, which is coming this month. And Britney's new album will be out in March 2011. That much we do know.
The song is produced by Dr. Luke and Max Martin who, separately and together, you might know from...well, every song you loved in 2010 (Ke$ha, Katy Perry, Taio Cruz, the new Avril Lavignesingle, "What The Hell," etc.) and of course some Britney classics, as well ("...Baby One More Time," "Oops I Did It Again").
According to a radio program director who has heard the song, "Hold It Against Me" is "really unique," and "the hook is just amazing."
We will obviously be watching out for that like a hawk. Britney's back, folks!
