IDK about you all but I would love to see round edges and a bigger keyboard on the 15 and 17 inch models. When I say bigger I mean including the home, end, backspace, crtl key on right and page up and down keys instead of the dust trap speaker grills they have now.

    Red?

I wonder if I have room in my iPod collection for such a device :D .

If this is true, I would be happy to see this come to life, not because of the color, but because of the charity aspect.

That is MS Explorer calling the iTunes.exe file an Application. It has nothing to do with Apple. Anything ending in .exe will have the same description.

It's all irrelevant to the conversation though... we are discussing "App Store" not "Application."

    So answer my 2nd question.

Why not just have call is the Mobile App Store? or WindApp store?
Why does MS need to copy Apple and just call it App Store?

No, don't be so silly or literal. PS3 dollars are the money people have dedicated to buy the PS3 -- the defacto "big ticket" item this year. Apple needs a product that will compete for that money...and press converage. Everyone and their mother got an iPod last year. Apple needs to pull a fresh product out of Jobs pocket; not a storage bump or new skins for the nano. THAT is what I'm saying.

Thank you. I didn't mean to sound silly or literal. When I read your original post, that is how I interpreted it....sorry, it was late for me and I was tired.:D

I just wonder what this will mean for storage space (SSD is expensive!) and for discrete graphics. The refresh can't be as thin as the Air itself if they want to keep room for a graphics chip.

It doesn't happen because what they should really be putting is Blu-Ray.
If Blu-Ray was going to happen it would've been in the refresh of 2011 MBP's. I can't imagine the optical drive being around much longer in anything other than the Mac Pro.

Please be more specific when you say "wrong", in what way?

Apple owns the rights to their intellectual property, this includes images and icons of their products that they have created.

Again, as I have said previously, the way these images/icons came about was USING OS X APIs.

    That's how they're wrong.

Great. Since Apple puts that crap hard drive in there, instead of simply using the computer someone has to go through all that trouble to get what they paid for (i7 processor)? Are you for real? That sounds great. I'm sure all those random people who buy from the Apple Store also buy the Apple torx screwdriver kit and get to work when they get home.

I recently changed the hard drive in my 2011 MBP. Electronics-size Phillips-head screwdrivers (No. 0 and No. 00) are all that's needed. Anybody who's handy with tools can do the job in about 15 minutes.

Even though the 7200 rpm HD is not as fast as an SSD, the difference in boot-up, app launch and overall operation speeds are quite noticeable (with no observable change in battery life).

Do any of these suits ever actually get resolved?

Sure they do. Its basically mutual destruction idea. So Samsung at the golf course will tell their counter part at Apple I will give you 20% off our latest SSD and it will all be nice again in the tech world or at least until the end of the week.

Exactly. The sad thing is that people pay them to predict something 4 years out like this. In a vibrant market like this, there is no way predictions 4 years out will be right. Maybe 1 year could be close.

I shall come back to this prediction 4 years from now, and laugh at how dumb the prediction is.

Backing up to optical media is generally a poor decision. The longevity of the media is suspect. While I understand that improvements continue, I have seen many CDs and DVDs just quit working over time.

The reply immediately after your's is good advice in my opinion. Backing up to the cloud is my preferred primary backup. I use crashplan+. I also keep a 2nd local backup in the house using Time Machine/Time Capsule. I backup locally every hour... and I back up to the cloud every 15 minutes.

    /Jim

I guess I will have to check into some of these newer methods. I do have an external hard drive that backs up everything every hour using Time Machine. I know that the advice about having two different types of back ups is a good idea. I suppose I need to learn more about this new method. Thank you, for your comment. It is almost one in the morning here now. Good night, Mac rumors.

That section states that by turning off Location Services, the data won't be tracked/collected. I think that these guys are saying that the data still is being collected, regardless of what your Location settings are.

    from: http://www.tuaw.com/2011/04/20/your-iphone-is-silently-and-constantly-logging-your-location/

What evidence, though? Just stating it means nothing. Prove it. Show us the data from that time when it was off.

I'd say a refresh of the Mac Mini and/or iMac might happen. Why would they call both of the existing models 'early 2006' (esp. the mini) in this page.

Let's face it folks. The real success of USB 3.0 and/or Thunderbolt external connections will really depend on native support from Microsoft Windows, like it or not (Mac fans kind of ignore the fact that most new desktop/laptop computers still ship with Windows 7 installed). My guess is that we will see Window 7 Service Pack 2 (probably due early 2012) add full USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt support, while Windows 8--probably due fall 2012--will support both connections natively.

Dell currently quotes 9-22. Or did yesterday when I placed an order.

If nothing else, 9-24 is extremely close to 9-27 - the date on which Dell claims to be shipping their (Merom) Core 2's.

Still loving my 21.5 inch i3 iMac.
I am hoping it gets a chassis redesign though.

I'm still loving mine too :) I did, however, just put it up for sale on CL though. Just to see if I get any bites. I'm not going to worry if I do or don't sell it though. It's still an amazing machine

I believe Apple has been waiting for all the planets to align. If there is going to be a movie service there will be a true "video iPod".

They were whipped in the ass last time for the boom box release, they will be looking to gain back face this time around.

Do no buckle to these power hungry tyrants Samsung. The stinger you fight, the more I will buy your products in the future.

You'd buy their products just because they opposed Apple? I buy products because I like them, hence a Samsung HDTV, Xbox 360, Sony Vaio Laptop, iPhone 4 and iPad.

One of my friends will not buy a piece of clothing if its cheaper than $50. (except underwear obviously) He could spot a shirt he liked, run over, and see it was $40, and he'd say "It's too cheap"

Where I would go, "Hey that shirt looks good"

4% doesn't sound like financial suicide to me. Though I do believe that Samsung would probably try to avoid losing that 4%.

Apple would probably find someone else for parts, but the question is if the quality/price would be the same. If I was a parts manufacturer, I would take advantage of this, knowing Apple is in desperate need of new parts. Cha-ching!!!!

Losing out on $142 billion in 1 deal, just to spite someone makes sense, if the CEO is 12.

Better idea: add an ExpressCard slot so I can put eSATA or USB3 on my iMac. Or you know...put USB3 & eSATA on my iMac for me *hint hint Apple*

Why? Thunderbolt is essentially an external PCI-E port.

If apple paid 100 million, they should then sue their lawyers for fraud. This suit would not even come close to 100 million.

Do you mean the cost of litigation or the potential award had Apple lost the case? It does seem like Apple wasn't very confident that they could win the case...after all Creative did file the patent before Apple, Creative was awarded the patent, and Apple was denied their patent. The iPod has brought Apple billions of dollars in revenue...a judgment against them could easily have cost them much more than $100 million.

When Windows starts to come close to SL in terms of ease of use and functionality let me know ;)

I use both.... and all I can say is "CUT and paste". Windows has had it for years, OS X SL doesn't. Same with window snap.

I love OS X, but, like with a lot of Apple products, its the "little things" that matter...

Both are great operating systems, and I will continue to use both since I cannot run Visual Studio on Mac, or XCode on Windows... :)

Coming from a "Gun Person" (Own a HK .45 USP Tactical w/ GEMTECH Suppressor)

...All this "well they had it coming" BS is totally misplaced, the man who died was a human being. I only hope that the guard did not instigate the shooting.

If you read the article you would see it was justified.
