Is that really what it's about? Or is it about people looking down their noses at humor they aren't into. The guy made a joke. Nobody was harmed, especially not the dead. If that is the case, every top comedian needs to throw out half of their jokes. I'm not even saying it was funny to me, just that it's ridiculous to get worked up over it.

I'm currently on Cingular and I'm not in love with my SE T637 all that much. I wonder what the price on this shiny new iPhone is going to be... If the syncing does not create duplicates in my Address book from the phone, I'll be very very happy.:)

If anyone at Apple HQs is listening, please give us a revved up/priced down MBP. Merom + 160 GB/7200 rpm hdd at $1999 would be sweet. I don't care to watch movies on anything less than a 50" screen, and I sure as hell am not moved to tears by an 8GB nano that is priced at 75% of a regular iPod. C'mon Apple, it's not too late!

Don't rely on encryption to protect you in any way. The police can crack it, as can hackers, and they can simply demand with a court order that you give them the password.
Depends on the cipher really. Not all ciphers can be decrypted with even the latest of the latest hardware, especially if you lack the private key. And a court order can force you all you want to give up that private key, but they can't force you to remember it or not lose it. ;)
"I don't remember" or "I lost the private key to my encrypted backup, but here's the AES-256 encrypted file guys, have a go at it" are perfectly good answers.
As for this topic, SLA/ToS whatever. Not everything written in a TOS is legal or binding. If they wrote you had to murder your 1st born child, would you ? Would a court find it legally binding ? Of course not. Invasions of privacy aside, is there even a reason to store the location information like that, timestamped and polled every second ?
Why can't the device poll my location when asked for it only ? Why does it need to do it periodically ? Why is there no cleaning up after a certain time has elapsed ?

Is it necessary these days? Back in 1999 it was still difficult days to just get video going at a good rate. These days it isn't hard to get good graphics.
What would be the use of redundant graphics? It must be a very small wedge of the market.
Not everyone wants a GPU for graphics. Some want it for games. Some want it for CUDA/OpenCL. Some want it for future proofing (kind of an oxymoron with a Mac, but that's another story.)
Apple has been pushing the 'good enough' mantra on iOS users for a while now. Specs aren't the greatest, but it's good enough and the software does well. It doesn't always work that way in (real) computers. There are always customers who want/need a bit more.
And not redundant graphics. I had meant Apple should be doing the latest and greatest again regarding their GPUs, like they did way way way back when. I should have just typed it all out. I'm in a slight food induced coma now.

Kind of a huge gap, don'cha think? For an extra $100 I can nearly TRIPLE the capacity? Why would I even consider a 30 GB model?
Shoulda been 60gb and 80gb like originally reported on some outlets. I could actually see myself buying the cheaper one then.

I am not really crazy about this design. Having to slide the click-wheel down every time I need to use my phone doesn't sound like fun (plus, what would this thing look like open? ...what I'm picturing is ugly).
I was hoping for an iPod Nano form factor with a numerical keypad... nice an simple.
I would have thought the same thing.. but I used a Sony Erricson phone for awhile.. iWalk I think they called it ?? but it had a simplified buttons under the screen, if you needed to "Dial" a number you could flip out the buttons. But most often you are either "answering" your phone, or pulling up a number from the directory, either case you don't need a full number pad key for. i honestly can't understand people who say there was no need to kill him, he was armed and shot at the security guard.
A criminal shoots at a security guard who is just doing his job of protecting the public? and a Security Guard shoots at a criminal who is shooting at him, endangering the public and stealing, and somehow the Security Guard is the bad guy here?
this criminal had no respect or regard for anyone but himself, he was a CRIMINAL, that was his choice to make, if he'd of made a better choice, he'd still be alive.
If the Security Guard had of made a different choice he may not still be alive.
it's just like the whole Raoul Moat thing here in the UK, he killed I don't know how many people, injured others, shot a Police Officer in the face with a shotgun, and people still said it was wrong to kill him, SERIOUSLY!
I say well done to the Security Guard, i just hope he is commentated for doing the right thing, and lives the rest of his life peacefully.
